McDonald's is looking into an incident where a "bug" was allegedly found in an order of fries purchased from Ang Mo Kio Park's outlet on Sunday night (Jan 5).

Stomper JY contributed photos of the "bug" and told Stomp: "My husband and I ordered takeaway from the drive-thru at about 10.39pm.

"We had eaten most of the fries already when we discovered the 'special ingredient' at the end.

"I'm not an expert when it comes to insects so I couldn't tell if it was a wasp or a bee.

"We contacted Ang Mo Kio Park McDonald's and a staffer told us that someone will come to our place to retrieve the foreign object for lab tests.

"My husband and I ended up returning all the remaining food to McDonald's.

"We felt utter disgust, to say the least, but feel fortunate that we discovered the whole bug instead of just a part of it.

"Cost of the late dinner? $13. Cost of our appetite loss? Priceless.

"Rest in peace our special friend."

In response to a Stomp query, a McDonald's spokesperson said: "At McDonald’s, we are committed to the highest food safety standards as an integral part of our business, and the well-being of our customers is very important to us.

"We have been in contact with the customer to address his concerns and are looking into this matter very closely.

"At the same time, we have also worked closely with our external pest control agency to swiftly conduct a thorough inspection at our restaurant.

"Again, we would like to assure our customers that we take all feedback relating to food safety and quality very seriously, and will continue to ensure that our restaurants maintain high levels of hygiene."
