A bus captain has been commended for going the extra mile for his passengers.

Stomper Low praised the driver of SMRT bus service 961 for his professionalism, patience, thoughtfulness and "best service".

Low said: "Bus Captain Wei saw wheelchair-bound commuters who wanted to board his bus. Instead of pulling down the wheelchair ramp and letting their caregiver to push the wheelchair up the bus, he went the extra mile and pushed the wheelchair up the bus himself!

"When the wheelchair-bound commuters wanted to alight, he also wheeled them down the bus.

"Despite being slightly behind his schedule, Bus Captain Wei didn't show any signs of impatience in assisting the wheelchair-bound commuters!

"Throughout the journey, Bus Captain Wei drove safely. He was also very professional when commuters required help with directions and patiently guided them."

Low shared videos of the bus captain helping wheelchair-bound commuters both in the day and at night on July 20.

He added: "Thank you, Bus Captain Wei, for your first-class service. You're a very good and professional bus captain! The ride was safe and very comfortable! You have a kind heart, may God bless you."

"Thank you to the management of SMRT Buses for training your bus captains so well! I hope SMRT Buses can reward this fantastic bus captain for his first-class service and professionalism."
